future. Please take a moment to review the move out process. We are providing
this information to help you have a trouble-free departure.
STEP 1 - Timely Notice
Remember that you are required to give 30-days notice of your intent to move /
vacate. To give notice, make an appointment with your Neighborhood Manager to
go through your move out process. Pre-inspection and final-inspection
appointments will be made at this time.
If you are retiring from active duty, you must clear housing prior to your
retirement date.
If you have orders to depart in less than 30 days, we need a copy of your
PCS/ETS orders. We have provided a Moving
Checklist for your convenience.
For information on temporary lodging during your transition period, please call
Fort Lewis Lodge at (253) 964-0211.
STEP 2 - Clean Your Home
We have provided a Checklist
of Minimum Cleaning Standards for Family Housing. Please use this as a
guide to prepare for your final walk-through with an EQR representative. A list
of cleaning charges will also be given to you. These charges will apply only if
you do not leave the home clean and undamaged. To avoid charges, please be sure
to schedule a pre-walk through, as described in Step 4.
STEP 3 - Schedule a Pre-Walk Appointment
At this time, the Maintenance Supervisor will help you determine what repairs
are needed and answer any questions you may have to prepare for the final
inspection. You will receive a copy of the summary to use as a guide.
STEP 4 - Schedule a Final Walk Through
This will be scheduled the same day you submit your notice. We can schedule
this at your convenience, but please keep in mind that this needs to be the day
you plan on returning your keys to the home. At this time, the Maintenance
Supervisor will complete the move-out checklist. This will be the same form you
completed at the time you moved in, if it is available in your file. You will
need to return to the Housing Office to officially clear your home.
Remember: You are responsible for
any damages or cleaning charges noted on this form. If you
fail to pay, your Chain of Command will be notified. Any charges due, which have not been paid,
will be turned over to a collection agency and may affect your credit rating
and rental history.
